Arhimser Villa located in Kahandamodara, Ranna, Tangalle on one of the best stretches of pristine beach on the Southern Coast. The villa is set on more than 4000 square metres of magnificent beachfront. The surrounds capture open spaces with beautiful nature reserves and opportunities for exploring the stunning landscape of the beach and lagoons. An ideal setting for beach lovers, wild life enthusiasts, surfers , anglers and bird watchers with all the major game parks and bird sanctuaries within close proximity of a day trip. The villa provides for a quiet setting where one can laze in the sun or relax in the infinity pool, take a swim on the beach or a boat ride on the lagoon 100 metres away which is a paradise for birds. At dawn or sunset you can participate with the local fishermen drawing their nets with the day's catch.

Arhimser has four large double bedrooms each over 42 sqm with ensuite, air-conditioning, hot water bidet, separate shower cubicle and ceiling fans. Three rooms have a king size double bed and the fourth room has two single beds. (one additional single beds can be provided on request in each of the two rooms for a total of up to 10 guests for the entire villa.)The rooms are high ceilinged, airy and full of light with direct access from the room to a wide veranda overlooking the pool and ocean. The spacious dining and lounge also overlooks the pool and ocean. There is a flat screen TV with a cable connection in two bedrooms as well children's games, jigsaw puzzles, chess, card games, darts, beachball and badminton. Free WIFI is available throughout the villa. The large sliding doors in the rooms and lounge provide for the sea breeze to flow gently throughout the internal space keeping the place cool and airy.


The villa has a chef who cooks excellent local and western cuisine as well as vegetarian meals and light snacks or a picnic meal can be arranged when vising the game reserves. Meals are available at prices in the range of EU$ 6 to 13. The kitchen is fully-equipped with an oven, microwave, dishwasher, cooktop, fridge, coffee machine and toaster and hot water jug. An outdoor wood fired BBQ is also available. for use by the guests and the kitchen is also available for guest to buy their groceries and prepare their own meals with the help of the chef and staff. A charge of EU$ 20 applies each time the kitchen or the BBQ is used.



The front garden is well established with frangipani, bougainvillea, oleander, ixora, orchids and tropical plants which provide a haven for the variety of exotic birds that nest in the surrounds. Peacocks and jungle fowl are seen frequenting the gardens and relaxing in the shade of the trees, The staff quarters which house 4 staff are at the end of the driveway about 25 metres away from the main villa building. The garden has a fish pond to attract the wild birds that nest in the surrounds. The rear yard is large with an undercover veranda overlooking the pool and beach. There is a cabana about 15 metres away from the shore which is used for evening drinks over a quiet chat or outdoor meals. A wood fired barbecue is available near the cabana which guests can use for cooking their own meals. Of an evening a bonfire and fireworks can be provided to keep the kids happy. The wide, beautiful white golden tinged sandy beach extends for miles and is ideal for walking and for swimming when the sea is calm. The local fishermen set out at dusk and return at dawn with their day's catch and guests can participate in drawing the nets when the boats come to shore. Turtles frequent the shore to lay their eggs on a full moon night and the surrounding shrub and dense bush are ideal for trekking and exploring nature. 



The entire villa sits on the ground floor with easy access from the circular driveway. The village of Kahandamodara where the villa is located has a small population of mainly farmers and fishermen who are friendly and welcome foreigners coming to stay here. As a policy we try to assist them by buying their fresh produce which is organic and readily available. Within close proximity there are herbal massage and Ayurveda health clinics and meditation and yoga centres for rejuvenating the mind and improving physical well being. Breakfast is provided free. There are many eating places in the neighborhood of Kalametiya for guests who may like to have a meal outside the villa. If guests provide the staff with advance notice a special meal like lobster, crab or lagoon prawns , depending on availability can be supplied at market price. We do not sell liquor but guests are permitted to bring their own stocks for consumption at no charge. For stays exceeding 8 nights free pick up from BIA airport or a Colombo hotel is available, if requested, more than two weeks before arrival. For stays lesser than 8 days pick up can be provided at transport rates to be agreed. The villa rental rates quoted are inclusive of all taxes and breakfast and service.



The beach is about 15 metres from the main villa directly accessible via a private gate. The beach is not crowded with rarely any members of the public or outsiders using it. The town centre Ranna has supermarkets, bakeries, banks, shops and fresh produce markets. The easiest way to travel in the neighbourhood is by a tuk tuk (three wheeler) which is cheap and enjoyable. Tangalle which is a larger town is a 10-15 minute drive. There are a number of restaurants, cafes and bars of good quality here. The International Golf Resort is a 15 minute drive with an 18 hole golf course. which is open to the public. For wild life lovers day trips to the largest two game reserves in Sri Lanka, Yala and Uda Walawe can be undertaken where leopard, elephant and bear in addition to other wild life can be sighted. The Bundala Bird Sanctuary is a 50 minute drive and the Kalalametiya Bird Sanctuary a 10 minute drive where over 50 species of birds habitat. Local transportation by van or car is arranged by the villa at reasonable rates for these trips including the UNESCO Heritage listed City of Galle Fort and other places of interest. The ancient rock cave temple of Mulkirigala built in 4 AD is 35 kms away. A day trip takes you to the hill town of Ella. famous for its tea plantations, nine arch railway bridge, rolling mountains and bio diversity of fauna and flora.
